Kimberley in the heart of the Northern Cape where I grew up is still dotted with many a tree house….my fascination with the construction industry started at an early age! By high school I knew I wanted nothing but to be an architect. I followed my dream and graduated cum laude from the University of Pretoria with a BArch degree in 1996. The world was my oyster and I spent an exciting year working in London and then travelling through Africa. Upon my return I jumped at the opportunity when I was offered a job at Tv3 Architects in Stellenbosch where I worked for 8 years as an Assistant Architect and later became an associate gaining invaluable experience. However my 3(free) spirit was starting to lure my attention into a new direction and so I founded BE3 Architects in March 2007 and never looked back. Oh yes and I do enjoy riding my bike too….

Originally from Gauteng, I spent many happy years in Pretoria and eventually matriculated at Waterkloof High School in 1996. After graduating from the University of Pretoria with a BArch degree in 2001, I decided to spread my wings and accepted my first job with a firm in Stellenbosch. Here I worked for 6 years as Assistant Architect on various projects ranging from single residential to high-rise commercial buildings and gained valuable experience. I also happened to meet my match in Stellenbosch and became happily married to Chrispher in 2003. In March 2008 I became Hanlie’s partner at BE(FREE)3 Architects and have since found (at least traces of) the delicate balance between being a professional architect and mother of 2 busy-bodies.
