Stellenbosch
The Bahlmanns approached us on recommendation of a previous client of BE3. They liked what they had seen at her home but was working within different parameters so our challenge was to maximise what was possible within the budget provided. We decided to go for simple shapes and strong line with ample light and an open plan approach making the utmost of the spectacular views. Details and finishes were kept minimalistic allowing scope for a number of focus elements such as the skylight above the staircase, the steel glass door in the study and Balau pergolas and shutters on the north and east façades. The site was the star component of the project as it allowed for great northern orientation with the views towards the mountains of Stellenbosch always present in the east.
