La Ferme Chantelle, Franschoek

When a client and an architectural practice with a taste for the slightly more modern meets on a site in a Franschoek Estate it is inevitable that the Cape Vernacular Guidelines will be scrutinized and reinterpreted until it speaks a language of simplicity and clarity both in form and function. Two diagonal wings protect the central courtyard and are connected by a multifunctional passage that links the layers of the home leading guests from the public streetscape to the more private inner sanctuary.
