Ceres
This project was commissioned by the Du Toit Group in an attempt to positively impact on the lives of their employees and therefore the community as a whole. The clients brief called for a facility that could provide Day Care for the almost 120 pre-school children of predominantly women working in their packing stores adjacent to the site. In addition to the Day Care Centre, the facility includes a farm-stall and multi-purpose areas to accommodate other needs the community have. Major design considerations were durability and addressing the harsh climatic conditions while still relating to small children on a very human scale.
