45D is situated in Paradyskloof, Stellenbosch. She is a dream come true and part of a personal journey for Hanlie. All though narrow the site’s potential was immediately clear. The challenge was to maximise the mountain views and orientation while being sympathetic towards the scale and style of the adjacent homes. 45D became a contemporary interpretation of the cape vernacular style of the area. The colour palette was limited to white, charcoal and birch timber with hints of Scandinavian inspiration and an industrial twist.
